A Burning Sensation In The Tongue And He Lips Can Be Caused By The Burning Mouth Syndrome

There is a health condition, called burning mouth syndrome (BMS), which is usually more common in post-menopausal women. Its symptoms are burning on the tip, sides, and top of the tongue, roof of the mouth, and the inside surface of the lips, and an altered sensation of taste. It is caused by an abnormal behavior to some nerve fibers, which transmit pain without any reason. This can be triggered by menopause, mental conditions, TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders, and stress and anxiety. Other symptoms are a headache, shoulder pain, back pain, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), panic attacks, palpitations and ringing in the ears, among others.
