Among Them Are Meds For Treating Acid Reflux, Insomnia, And Also Painkillers

Certain drugs can have adverse effects on anxiety drugs, such as Benzodiazepines (Also known as “Benzos”), which are prescribed for anxiety, insomnia or panic disorder. Among these anxiety, drugs are Xanax (alprazolam), Valium (diazepam), Ativan (lorazepam), and Klonopin (clonazepam). The effects might be oversedation, accidents, or overdose. Other effects of the interactions are a decrease of benzo in the bloodstream, resulting in withdrawal effects such as severe being seizures or even death. Among the drugs that have dangerous interactions with benzodiazepines are opioids, such as the painkillers OxyContin (oxycodone), morphine, and Vicodin (hydrocodone), which can cause cardiorespiratory depression, and increase the risk of overdose and death. According to statistics, 75% of deaths related to benzodiazepines also involved an opioid. Another interaction to watch for are insomnia drugs, such as including Ambien (zolpidem), Lunesta (eszopiclone), and Sonata (zaleplon), which have a similar mechanism to benzos and can cause episodes of amnesia. Acid reflux drugs such as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), such as Prilosec (omeprazole), Nexium (esomeprazole), Prevacid (lansoprazole), and Protonix (pantoprazole), are also dangerous to combine with benzos, because they increase the level of benzodiazepines in the blood, and might worsen the effects of these drugs, including confusion, dizziness, sedation, falls and impaired driving. The fourth group of drugs to watch is fluoroquinolone antibiotics such as Cipro (ciprofloxacin), Levaquin (levofloxacin), and Avelox (moxifloxacin), which compete for the same binding site as benzodiazepines. This means that both drugs cannot work at the same time and one drug blocks the effect of the other. Therefore, the antibiotics block the benzos, resulting in withdrawal effects from the latter, in the form of increased heartbeat and dizziness. Click here for more info.

Modern Devices Have Resulted In New Health Conditions, Such As Tech Neck And Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Symptoms Include Reduced Lung Capacity, Headache, Neck And Back Pain, Heart Disease, And Depression

Modern life includes interaction with several devices, that may lead to a poor posture and neck and back pain. Bad posture has also been linked with reduced lung capacity, as well as an increase in depression, heart disease, headaches, and neurological disorders One early example is holding the office phone between the shoulder and the ear to leave both hands free, which resulted in neck pain. The same is happening with handheld devices and audio devices, which cause the head to slouch forward, resulting in “tech neck”. In this case, the stress on the neck increases with the angle on the head, which may grow from 10 to 12 pounds in a neutral posture, the human head typically weighs 10-12 pounds, but when it is bent forward at 15 degrees and 60 degree angles, the weight on the neck increases to 30 and 60 pounds, respectively. This is similar to carrying an 8-year-old child in the neck. Also, contact typing and mouse movement lead to carpal tunnel syndrome, caused by the wrists being held in uncomfortable static positions for prolonged periods of time with contact strain placed on the forearm nerves, which become irritated as a result. Another condition is called computer vision syndrome (CVS), which includes optical pain, eyestrain, dryness, blurry vision, headaches as well as neck and shoulder pain. It is caused by poor lighting, improper viewing distances, poor seating posture, glare on a digital screen, and uncorrected vision problems.
